Alongside Charlotte's other playing commitments she has a great passion for teaching and currently teaches at Harpenden Musicale at St Georges School Harpenden and also teaches her private students form her home in Harpenden.
Lessons are taught in a friendly and supportive way and are designed to challenge the individual; building on their current skills, learning new techniques and exploring the extensive repertoire of music written for the instrument, whilst also being enjoyable and stimulating.
All students are taught to recognise and learn how to correct problems which helps with effective practice. Sight reading, scales/technical exercises, aural, theory, improvisation and composing are all regular activities in lessons, to provide a well rounded musical experience. Piano pupils are also offered the chance to learn the key technique of pianist; the art of accompaniment; joining with one or more instrumentalists to develop their skills.
ABRSM examinations are offered to students who are interested.
Lessons are taught on a weekly basis during term time and students may book slots during holiday periods if they wish.
As every student is unique, it is essential that all lessons are planned according to each individual's needs, aims and musical interests as well as catering to individual strengths. By this it helps keep the consistent progress of the student which are in turn more likely to stay motivated, becoming confident and successful musicians.
Students should have a real desire to learn, to develop their musicianship and show commitment to regular practice and attendance. In return I offer students my full commitment, knowledge, patience, flexibility, passion for music, humour and energy. I consider and maintain that music is a skill for life and most of all should be fun at all times!!
